What's your CrossFit story?

I started CrossFit in May, finishing 101 in late April. Having spent the two decades since law school sitting at  desk and neglecting fitness, I started running as my primary exercise in my early 40s, running 7-8 half marathons over the last few years. I was interested in doing something different for several reasons. Getting up every Saturday to run for 1-2 hours, my weight loss plateauing, and the constant aches of plantar fasciitis, IT band, and so forth had all caused running to lose its appeal. I was looking to involve weight lifting in my exercise but not lose the cardio aspects of running. CrossFit seemed to combine those and the functional movement aspect was the reason I decided to try CrossFit. I'm still focusing on getting better at the technique of the various movements and need to get my nutritional house in order. The latter is no small task and I would probably be better off just hiring somebody to follow me around and slap food out of my hand. I don't really have a favorite WOD or movement. The last two months have pretty much been a blur of me bent over gasping for breath. This box needs to move somewhere were there isn't a shortage of oxygen. Burpees are clearly my less favorite movement. I consider them proof that evil exists in the world. Much thanks to all of the coaches who have been patient and worked with me at the end of the day, which as mentioned above pretty much means standing in the heat and watching me try to not pass out.

What's your CrossFit story?

I’ve been Crossfitting on and off for 5 years.  I love a heavy barbell and the “suck” of WODs like fight gone bad.  Until recently I hated any WOD with running in it.  Now I only strongly dislike them! My absolute favorite part of CrossFit is the wonderful community!  The people keep me coming back.  CF Leesville has the greatest community and I love our people!!!! .

I’m looking forward to the Ragin Cajun Games, my first competition on August 8th in Lafayette,LA.  I might just get a pull-up by then!

What's your CrossFit story?

1. I was introduced to CrossFit about 2 years ago but, since joining CFLV in February of this year is when I got the true taste of CrossFit WODs.

2. My least favorite movement is......BURPEES!! And for my favorite WODs are any done with partners.

3. As a military spouse and  a mother of 3 it can be difficult to reconnect with others especially when one has just PCS yet being apart of the CFLV I get motivation to handle what the army throws at me by working out with some amazing super moms. So, I love the CFLV community and the great coaches that continues to push me to get better everyday.

What's your CrossFit story?

I have been doing CrossFit now for a little over three years. I started to work out with CrossFit when my husband deployed during our first year of marriage, and used it as a means to also train for a half marathon. Since that time, I have lost 25 pounds, run two half marathons, and developed a love for fitness and working out. I started going to CrossFit Leesville in August 2017. I have been working as a teacher for high, middle, and elementary school for 8 years and am currently teaching ESL to students living in China online.  Favorite WOD is anything with cardio or rope climbs, favorite movement is power cleans, least favorite movement is the overhead squat.
